The Lovettsville-Waterford Ruritan Club gathered in Waterford for some community service. This is one of the fun projects we do throughout the year. The club is responsible for 2 miles of roadway and we pick up twice a year. Road cleanup is a nice way to catch up with club members, get some light exercise, gain some good vibes from the community and of course, enjoy some DONUTS!
Congratulations Anna M for winning the Fill Your Freezer Raffle with lucky ticket #85. Thank You everyone that bought a ticket, The Lovettsville-Waterford Ruritans couldn’t do what we do without the support of the community!
We all had a great time at the Lovettsville Vintage Aerodrome serving food all day. Thanks everyone that stopped and said hello. We had breakfast sandwiches in the morning then brats, dogs and burgers all day. We can’t wait to get back next year and do it all over again!
We had a great time at our summer picnic with food provided by Monks BBQ. We were joined by special guest Gwyneth, one of four Woodgrove Seniors that were awarded Scholarships from the Lovettsville-Waterford Ruritan Club. It was nice to have her visit and tell us about her future plans. Good Luck Gwyneth!
Everyone had a great night as the Lovettsville-Waterford Ruritans got together for our monthly dinner meeting at Flying Ace Brewery. Wendy Dalton, the sponsorship chair with the Lovettsville Dolphins, came to update the club on the Lovettsville swim team. The team has been a member of the Old Dominion Swim League since 2004 and the Ruritans have always been a supporter of the team. The Dolphins are more than a swim team to Lovettsville and Waterford, as life long friendships and sportsmanship develop amongst the swimmers.
Becky Lane, our Ruritan District National Director, and Rappahanock District Governor Graham Overman also joined our monthly meeting to update the club on the latest developments at the national level. Ruritan National wants to increase membership across all levels and several suggestions on how to grow locally were discussed. If you are interested in learning more about what Ruritans do and how to become a member, join us for dinner at the monthly meeting . We meet every 3rd Thursday of the month upstairs at Flying Ace Brewery. Contact us at [email protected] and let us know you want to come.
Congratulations Chris E for winning the Fill Your Freezer Raffle with Lucky ticket #89. Thank You to everyone for supporting the Ruritans by purchasing a ticket. The funds raised help with fun activities like last weekend’s Eggstravaganza and also support the local Food Bank, youth activities and other needs in our community. Next month we will award 4 Scholarships and 1 Grant to 5 graduating Seniors and we couldn’t do any of these things without your support.
It was all hands on deck as everyone pitched in and prepped over 7000 eggs for the return of the Eggstravaganza!! If you ever wondered what a Ruritan does, its as easy as sitting around the table prepping eggs for an Easter egg hunt and catching up with your neighbors.
